FAQ

1) Who can qualify?

How to determine if your company will meet the criteria for funding...

1) Any company in the State of California that:
1. Faces out-of-state or off-shore competition or sells to customers in other states
2. Has at least 10 full-time W2 employees (including owner or owners) earning upwards of $13 per hour
3. Pays unemployment insurance
4. Business leaders believe that developing better business skills is a major key to becoming competitive and more profitable

2) How is the funding earned?

2) Funding is based on the number of hours that your employees who participate in the program are involved in business skills development and applied learning.  The more participants, the greater your offset
3) Do we have to pay the money back?

3) No, this is not a grant or a loan, it is your money.  As an Employer you have been contributing to this fund via the Unemployment Insurance that you pay the state for each employee.
4) Do I have to pay for the services first and then wait to get reimbursed?

4) Yes and No... The funding comes in stages. The first 25% is paid at the start of the program, then 50% is paid at the end of the program, and the final 25% is paid when the 90 day employee retention period completes.  iCAN bills monthly in advance of services to be delivered.  This means you will only have to carry the final 25% payment past the delivery period.
5) Are the programs and initiatives designed by the state? 5) The state provides only a general guidline.  The actual initiatives and content are custom designed by seasoned iCAN Alliance business experts and validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to achieve the state's goal - high performance workers and workplaces.
